Hey everyone! I am preparing to build my first computer and right now I am looking into operating systems. I was made aware that I can get Windows 10 Education for free because I am a student. Before I use that on my build though, I just wanted to check with the experts and find out what are the differences between Windows 10 Education and the other types. Is it worth getting the free one or will I be better off buying the Home or Pro versions? I will be using my PC mostly for gaming and some occasional CAD work.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks everyone!

If it's free, the Windows 10 Education is better than home as it has some features, while not likely to be used by you or any average user, that are not present in the Home version like some Domain options, advanced security features not likely to be used on any but corporate, educational network or sensitive business machines and advanced encryption.

The Pro version is about the same thing, with even more of these features and support for active directories and enterprise users. I'd go with the Education version which has everything Home has, plus a bit more. Even if you don't use those features, so what, you didn't pay for it. Free is good in this case.

Free is a good price. The Windows 10 education version is a superset of the Windows pro version. It includes Remote Desktop, hyper-v and Windows to go options. Only problems I have seen was related to some schools charging for the install, then charging again for reinstalls if you wipe your machine. Or the school would not allow a second install. Other than that it is the version I would use.
