I have an HP desk top pavilion with AMD quad core Windows 64 bit upgraded from Windows 7 it worked well for months.
Several usb devices identify in device manager but have driver issues when I try to update drive windows tells me the best driver is already installed. But can't print, uninstalled all usb drives accept for keyboard and mouse. reboot. Try installing HP drivers for printer and get a message that encountered error during install.
Used HP tool to install laserjet CM1312nf mfp printer get to the point that it tells me to plug usb in and next never becomes active even though Device manager has all in one devices listed with error. Windows get errors whenever I try to install the HP driver the 64 bit gives me an error that it is incomparable with X32 and the 32 bit driver gives me an error that it is incompatible with X64.
What is going on here. I also have a usb microscope that has similar issues on different port.

Solution
Actually I Downloaded the ISO file and made a DVD From MS. Fortunately it gives you an option to
only reinstall windows 10 just before it goes to work User files and Apps are not disturbed. After a couple hours I went back to the PC and all of the usb functions worked again. I don't know that future updates won't mess it up again but now I have a reliable solution.
