Windows 10 Explorer (?) keeps crashing

I've started to have an annoying problem in Win 10. Taskbar disappears, desktop disappears (even the background pic), Windows key does nothing, CtrlAltDel does nothing, right click on desktop does nothing, the only way to "fix" it is a hard reset either by reset button or turning off the power. Since there's no start menu, there's no way that I know of to perform any kind of Windows functions like trying to restart Explorer or run a command line. Help greatly appreciated.

When this happens:

• Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to launch Task Manager.
  Choose File/Run in menu, type in explorer and press ok.

Ctrl+Shift+Esc also does nothing. I'm guessing every keyboard shortcut is the same. It's like Windows has disappeared from underneath. Firefox works fine, no way to start any other programs.
