Windows 10 extremely slow to open

Bought brand-new HP 1TB storage 8GB memory. Opens up slower than 10-yr old iMac with 4gb.
Is it the McAffee programs I didn't have before. I only need access to Word & the internet - all the rest is useless to me but I don't know what to uncheck in the start up.

still have hdd? either upgrade or return and get one with SSD.

yep, sounds like you got an HP with one of their cheap ass slow HDs, get one with a SSD.

Thank you for your response; you are correct it is a hdd with AMD A9-9425 Radeon R5, 5 compute cores 2C+3G 3.10GHz, 64 bit operating system, all-in-one computer. I thought it would be fast.

Depends what you mean by "extremely slow". Also depends on what a new install of Windows is doing. If you copied loads of files over it might be busy indexing etc.

Google the exact model number and see what you can find out about its relative speed from reviews before you spend time and money on an SSD. If "all you need is Word & the internet" superfast disk speed is hardly a priority.
