Hi,

So this isn't much of a problem, but something I'd really like to sort out nonetheless, and it's been bugging me since the Windows 10 update (By the way, I'm having real problems with this website at the minute, I can't insert a picture or a link properly, so I'm having to post the whole link address).

Ok, if you visit that link, you'll see what I'm on about here, it's a just print-screen of my issue.

If you take a look at box 2 you can see that there are 3 hard drives there, very easy to access at the side of every folder, each with a drop down menu, however, these 3 hard drives are back up drives that I do not use often. The two hard drives I use the most (drive C and D) won't show up on the side menu like the other 3 do. This is really irritating. The only way I can make a work around is by putting the C and D drives in the quick access menu (box 1 on the picture), but I'd really like to have them show up like the other 3 do (in box 2 in the picture).

Does anyone know how to do this? Is there a menu I can customise somewhere to sort this? It was completely fine before I upgraded Windows 10 (as in, in the original Windows 10 it was all fine, and only messed up after the upgrade).

Thanks for any responses, and again, apologies for not being able to have the picture here in the thread and you having to follow a link.

Hi,

Perhaps this will fix for You: [Fix] Drives Appearing Twice in Navigation Pane of Windows 10 Explorer “This PC”

But I must ask when did this occur, recently and just like that or have You done something to the computer like installed a new driver, s/w or Windows update?

Anyhow I suggest to restart the computer and then:
When you are in Windows safe mode very few drivers and services is loaded and none external autostart s/w.

But while in Safe mode: Run System File Checker (sfc /scannow) it will check the integrity and try to repair system files
Guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2895-sfc-command-run-windows-10-a.html

After that you can try (still in Safe mode):
If Windows 10
Right click on Start > type...

The forums were having problems for a few hours. It might also be the source as photobucket doesn't like sharing links.

can you see C & D if you click the arrow next to this PC? that is only way I can see them in the side menu, they show under the My PC then.

Yes, I can see all the hard drives if I select the drop down menu from 'My PC', but that makes things really confusing, cus it gives me a list of all my hard drives, then the three immediately below them so it looks like I have 8 hard drives :??:

Well, thanks for the suggestion, and yeah, that does sound like a fair trade off, but those reg files from their site did not at all fix the problem and they just made matters worse. Instead of removing the 3 drives, the file instead just made it so that every drop down menu in the navigation pane was open if I opened a windows folder, and they would always open back up when I opened a new folder, which made things 10 times worse haha. Just had to do a full system restore to get things working normally again.

Thanks for trying though :)
I'll keep searching along these lines though, I feel like you're onto something

copy and paste this or just type it: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Press Enter

Next:
Click Start > type Power > in the list right click on Power shell > run as Administrator > copy this exactly:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}
If you right click in the Power Shell window the test string will automatically copy itself into Power Shell.
Press Enter

the quick access is for folders you use all the time. If you want other folders and drives to show up, highlight the drive in This PC, then right click on Quick Access and select Pin Current Folder to Quick Access.
