I'm planning on maybe building a computer, and i've done a lot of research and i can finally understand what everyone is talking about when they talk about components etc. So what i wondered, how do i get Windows 10 for free? I've seen people get unactivated Windows and i wonder how? And, if i want to get Windows legit (i mean buy it) later, is that possible?

Thanks.

Yes. It will be unactivated but if you later buy a licence it is easy to activate from a settings menu

You download the tool and run it as it will create the installer files on the USB

Does your current PC have win 10 on it now? If so, and you want to upgrade to a new one and stop using it, you should be able to move that licence and not need to buy it again - see here: Reactivating win 10 on new hardware

As for free, its not really. There is a price to pay to get a licence.

You can run unactivated if you want to, there is no guarantee that Microsoft won't make it difficult to do in future, but currently all you need to do is download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

Install win 10 on new PC, when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and remain unactivated once finished

Yes, you can use a licence bought the official way later on to activate this install.

Okay, so i do not have Windows 10 on my current computer. In fact, i have an iMac, but i might build a pc pretty soon. So you are saying if i have a USB drive i could download Windows 10 media creation tool and install it on my future build?

Thanks for replying.
