Question Windows 10 Freeze, no bsod, while gaming, partial functioning audio and using second monitor

Oct 11, 2020
Hello there,

so recently I get a PC freeze when tabbing out from the game and using my second monitor ( for example switching the video I am currently listening to). It happened now 3 times within a month. The last time I got it, there were some graphical bugs on my screen (see the linked picture). I need to mention that the audio sometimes is still playing and that I can move my mouse. So it isnt a pure freeze.

So I doubt that this happens because of the temperature. My GPU´s temp is about 70°C while playing, which should be fine. I think that it may be a problem with the drivers, though I recently installed the new one ( version 456.71). I also think that it isnt a hardware problem because there is no bsod. But I dont really know what the cause for this problem is, maybe you can help me?

Here is my system:
GPU: GTX 1080
OS: Win10 2004
CPU: Ryzen 1700 @ 3.6Ghz
RAM: 16GB @ 2933Mhz
The system is about 3 years old now.
