I have had my computer for nearly 3 years now and made the mistake of of not buying an SSD to put windows 10 on. Currently my HDD has 70 gbs remaining out of 1 Tb and was wondering if I could move the OS to the SSD and some larger games but still keep my HDD.

Solution
Once you get to that target consumed space number...

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so...
You can, but not in an easy way unless you get an SSD large enough to clone everything onto it (about 1TB). Using a smaller boot drive, you'll have to re-install Windows on the SSD then re-install the games. The games usually give you the option of selecting an install location other than the system default, so certain games can be kept on the HDD (D:) but they'll have to be re-installed also.

You can't move only the OS and pick and choose other things.

is it possible to delete some larger games on my HDD until im below 500 gb then clone everything onto an SSD?

Absolutely.
If you're getting a 500GB drive, you need to reduce the actual consumed space to below 400GB.

For a 250GB SSD, below 200GB.

Given that, you can clone the entirety over to this new SSD.

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
