Windows 10 Games "Launching" on taskbar but game window not opening

I can't launch any games on Windows 10. I can launch Adobe apps, web browsers, clients like Steam, but games will not open. I click "Play" on a game, and the game icon appears on the taskbar, and my cursor even changes to what the in-game cursor icon would look like, but I'm still on my desktop and cannot click anything. So, I alt-tab out of the game window (which is just the game cursor icon while I'm on my desktop) and then things are responsive again. If I try to alt-tab back into the game, my cursor icon changes back to the in-game one, but again no game window appears, I'm still just on my desktop and can't click anything. I end up just right clicking the game icon on the taskbar and closing the window since it's totally unresponsive.

Thanks for any help!

I'm assuming there are no background apps stopping it. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling (they should auto reinstall) the display drivers.

If you had to, Win10 system restore is easy to do and usually fixes the problems. Just a pain if you have a lot of stuff to redownload.

Doesn't look like it.

I honestly don't know when this started happening. I haven't played any games for a couple months, but wanted to start gaming a bit just now. I think I may have seen this issue a couple months back and brushed it off.

I'll try CCleaner to see if that helps.
