OK Just so every one has this covered. All windows games with disk installations will not work for the time being in all windows OS 7 and up. Basically they updated security and it now requires admin privileges even if you are the admin. There is even a hidden admin account which will not work for the games either. This is a common problem but i have a solution. All products have a product key. You can transfer your game to steam. For instance i have Sid miers Civilization IV I bought it retail along time ago. The problem occurred so i contacted windows and they failed me but 2k games allowed me to transfer but you can transfer all games into steam Via (ISBN) This only applies if your game is on steam. When game company's go out of business they usually give there games to steam. Such as age of empires created by Ensemble studios. Ensemble studios no longer exist and have transfers there games to steam. Even though some of the old copy's still exist. So for all who are confused there you go.

I'm answering to this thread to prevent it from being deleted and as a way of saying that this could be a solution for those on older titles but moving onto Microsoft's new platform. It's also advised to run any installer on OS's from 7+ with administrator privileges via the right click method. Have you encountered anything odd with some of those older titles that aren't on steam?
