Hello, I use Windows 7 for many years. I am planning to get a new Mac and install Windows 10. One feature that makes me choose the PRO version is the ability for the user to decide when to do software upgrade. This feature is useful to me as it has happened many times that in the middle of some important tasks, Windows updated itself and ruined my simulations.

I recall somebody mentioned that under the Home edition, one could make a change to the setting to allow the user to decide when to allow software update. How to make such setting change? Is it as good as the feature that comes with the PRO version?

Thanks

Home vs Pro has nothing to do with being able to transfer to new hardware.
Done properly, a Home license can transfer just fine. I've done it.

Read and do this before you change any parts:

Thanks. In my case, is the metered connection the way to go? Will setting it that way affects other performance of the machine? For example, when I need to download large files, will Windows prevents it or slows it down since I tell it that I have so many bits per month without paying extra to ISP?

That has nothing to do with whatever downloads you initiate.
That 'metered connection' thing only affects how OS updates are obtained.

If you download a 50GB game, that's all on you.
