A friend of mine wants to build a PC, but he doesn't want to spend money on an optical drive, nor the operating system. His school allows the students to get software discounted or free, and he says that Windows 10 Education is offered free through his school, in the form of a digital code. I know you can use a USB drive to install Windows 10 on a newly built PC if you follow the instructions Microsoft outlines for creating a bootable USB drive. What he asked me, and what I am unsure of, is if this still applies to the Education version of Windows 10, or if it is only for other versions. Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Solution
YES.
But, how is the code applied? Normal W10 version?

Is it Windows 10 S?
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/Products/Windows/default.aspx

*The part below the following LINK is for the normal way to do it but I'll just leave it there for reference (probably most applies, and once you put in the KEY it probably takes you to a site for a different MS media creation tool for the EDU version):
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/vlacademicISO

If it's just the normal MS media creation tool then it is:

1) go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
2) Insert 8GB (or greater) USB stick

3) download MS media creation tool, and RUN it
4) choose the proper version (Not sure how that works for...

5) MS will download and create the USB stick as W10 bootable install
6) create PC

7) insert the USB stick and boot up PC (no OS installed so should start off the USB stick)

Solution
Every iso is the same,it's just cheaper that way,the version becomes different by the key inserted, they just change the default OS choice to the relevant one.

This commands allows one to check which options are available on a iso
dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\x86\sources\install.esd /index:1 (2-3... )
Will show one option at a time depending on the index number.
