So I've had my pc for around 6 months. But just two days ago my windows wouldn't start up. So I went and got Windows 10 and I'm trying to install it. When I get to the select a disk to install it on screen, and I select my disk and click next it gives me this error, "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for an installation. Error code 0x80070057". This is really frustrating and whenever I try formatting a partition it gives me the same error. Please help!

use the windows 10 disc/usb media

select repair your computer

then recovery tools

then cmd prompt

then use diskpart command to format it

or do what you already did

but instead of choosing to format it

choose to delete all the partitions

then to create a new one

If you mean to format the partition to ntfs through diskpart, I have already tried that and it got stuck at 0 percent...

did you use the clean command before trying to format in diskpart?

When I use the clean command I have to wait a bit then I get this error "DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. See the System Event Log for more information."
