Hello, I am currently running windows 8.1 and im planning to upgrade to win 10 but i have read that there is an issue when upgrading to win 10 with dual partitions from a single hdd (essencially the secondary partition gets wiped out clean and connected back to a single one partition). So have any of you experienced such an issue? And what would be a possible fix, because i have alot of stuff in my secondary partition and i do not want it to be wiped out?

Solution
Why not just copy your stuff that's in the secondary partition to the primary partition then expand the primary partition to encompass the entire drive. Any data that's on the partition that Win 10 will install on will end up in the windows.old folder as long as you don't do a custom install.

To do the upgrade, I recommend using the media creation tool and using the Upgrade This PC Now instead of getting a disk with Win 10 on it. Media Creation Tool can be found here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
No that is not true.
Where did you read this?

On my secondary laptop:
2 partitions, 1 Win 7, 1 Win 8.1
I Upgraded the Win 8.1 to 10
The Win 7 partition was still there and working fine.

However, with any major change like this...you need a backup of any critical data. Just in case things go wrong.
