Appreciate the proper syntax. I need the proper driver(s) to make touchpad work. I've looked everywhere I can think and was hoping for suggestions from people who know more than I do.

You need to either wait for ASUS to launch Windows 10 drivers for your laptop or try installing the Windows 8.1 drivers.
If the Windows 8.1 drivers don't work then you might be best to roll Windows back to 8.1 until proper drivers are released if they ever are, ASUS are under no obligation to develop drivers.
Thank you. I found the suggestion to Roll Back to 8.1. Tried it and still no mouse. I enabled mouse in Device Manager and now have a cursor control. I can move the cursor with the touchpad but no clicking, right or left. Thankfully, I have a touchscreen but very frustrating! AARGGG. Any suggestions appreciated
I would go for all the latest drivers ASUS list for your laptop otherwise you might find other random problems. Starting with the trackpad one is a good starting point.
Well I did the same thing and I have some of the same problems that you are experiencing and I decided that its best for me to return back to the old software 8.1 because windows 10 as of right now sucks because they haven't fixed all the problems with it. Then to the only way that your mouse will work if you buy one if you already don't have one.
You can also try removing all of the HID drivers relating to the mouse that you've installed (and haven't worked) thus far by uninstalling them from device manager and checking the box to delete the files. This will avoid driver conflicts. Then attempt either to allow Windows to "automatically search for the best driver" or to add "generic" in-built drivers from the manual list.
After you've deleted the non-working drivers and go to add from the manual list, it might be necessary to follow the steps outlined in Method 1 first, from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2500967
I had the same problem, all I did was unplug the mouse and swap it into a different usb port and it's like it never even happened. I don't understand it, but it worked perfectly.

A little difficult to do with a laptop's built-in touchpad. =P
How do you get the proper drivers? I am having the same problem after the update and have no idea what to do

Then you need the proper drivers.
It didn't kill it. 50 threads a day about how Windows 10 killed hardware. It doesn't and can't kill hardware. It's driver issues.
The manufacturer's website is the best place to start. If it's an external mouse, like a Microsoft mouse or Logitech, then those would be the places you would go. At the most you would need the model of the device and this is usually found on the bottom or in the battery compartment. With something in-built, you would go to the manufacturer of the computer itself.
Always uninstall the old drivers from device manager first - if possible - before installing the new ones.
