Windows 10 laptop automatically updated itself and deleted all documents

Hi everyone, two months back I bought a laptop from Costco. Its an HP Pavillion. Problem is it was a display model so it has an HP screensaver that turns on automatically and closes all running programs. Costco gave me an instruction list to reset my computer to factory setting but instructions did not match the options available in the laptop. So i used my own work around and simply clicked on revert back to previous windows state from control panel. That removed the HP screensaver and made it like a factory reset laptop. It ran fine for two months but yesterday the computer decided to update itself automatically and the screensaver was back. Along with that it deleted everything that was in the C:/Users/my_name folder. What do I do now, Now there is no option to revert back to the old state.

Your only hope is if anything remains in the Recycle Bin. Factory reset is exactly that, I'm afraid.

There is a fairly decent program called Recuva, it's from Piriform the makers of CCleaner.
