Windows 10 laptop not working correctly

So a year ago, I got a used laptop for Christmas. It was only a year or two old, when I received it. but a year later, It got stuck on scanning and repairing disk errors. it's really annoying. So this year (its been a year and a few months) i decided to fix it. How would I be able to?

SPECS:
Computer: Windows 10 Acer (idk what build just its old)
Processor: i3 240ghz
Graphics Card: Stock (aka idk)
Hard drive: Stock 4000 MB

please help. it's almost summer, and I need something other than my parents computer to play on lol

EDIT: Some more background: I was watching some movies online if that helps any. I always made sure not to download anything bad, and made sure to check my files, in case your wondering

Open CMD and type in sfc /scannow ; also try chkdsk /f ; Try some registry fixing program, and if nothing works - reinstall the OS.

The only thing about that though, is that i cant even get it to get past that. It wont move past anything. I even tried booting several different ways.

Ask someone to make you a bootable copy of windows 10, and try to fix it with that image, if not you need to use some kind of recovery to save your files and then completely format the drive. I'd recommend a Linux distribution on a USB flash drive of 64gb and then copy what you need.

a whopping 240 ghz lol. anyway, i'd get a new drive to replace the old one and put windows on it from another computer. (I don't know if it's possible but its worth a shot)
