Question Windows 10 locks my system RAM at 8gb

I definitely don't have a "space age rig" by any means, but I've just noticed Win10 64 locks my ram at 8GB for many games.


I'm unsure why, granted it may be a bug with the "Windows Insider" program updates.

Just curious if this is a typical issue, or my PC is eating the dirt.

My CPU is "Brand new" (unused) from 2011 or so, the rest of my rig is a bit of a frankenstein build.

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Hard Drive: 2TB Seagate Blue
1TB Toshiba
1TB External Segate BK
OS: Windows 10 x64
Case: Raidmax Blackstorm
PSU: Thermaltake 750w
Keyboard: Gamdias Hermes RGB Mechanical
Mouse: RedDragon Perdition 24000dpi
Headset: Sades Spirit Wolf

Those are my specs, all the drivers, BIOS, etc are updated when I have to.

What exact make and model RAM are you using?
also assuming they are inserted as per the MB manual?
Do you have an XMP / OC enabled?
Is BIOS up to date?
