Windows 10 Loss of HD Resolution

I upgraded a 2011-vintage HP Touchsmart 610 desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in August and lost the previous 1920 x 1080 (full HD) resolution - the best I now get is 1280 x 1024. HP do not appear interested in providing Windows 10 upgrade for any pre-August 2013 machine, and their website provides no assistance. There are no HP Windows 10 drivers for this machine. The system data says I have a Generic PnP Monitor and Windows updater says that the drive version 10.0.10240.16384 is the most up-to-date available. Do I have any alternatives to reverting to Windows 7 or getting a new machine? Hope someone can assist.
Kind regards, Sandy

You'll have to check your receipts to see if you have an intel only or one that uses an Intel CPU and AMD GPU. If yours has the AMD GPU, you will need to see the exact model and make sure AMD drivers are available.
Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help. You are right when you say that HP doesn't have a driver for Windows 10 available for your PC.
- Do uninstall/reinstall the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics card driver under Display Adapter.
- Once uninstalled download and install the latest driver from Intel's Support site for your graphics card.
- Here's the link:
Windows 10 64bit: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24785&_ga=1.124895881.248142415.1445308597

Windows 10 32bit: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24786&_ga=1.61015343.248142415.1445308597

Once installed reboot your PC and see weather or not the issue had been resolved.

To Laptop_Nerd - many thanks for your response. Prior to doing the uninstall I clicked on the Windows 10 64 bit link you supplied to be ready for the download of the new driver but unfortunately got this message: "We are sorry, there is no Intel.com page matching your request. The page may have been renamed, moved or is no longer available. Please verify the address you typed is spelled correctly. If you are certain that this URL is valid, please send us feedback about the broken link."

Looking at the HD Graphics Properties tab, I see under "General" a message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)" I'm guessing that the Windows 10 update put a generic driver as there was no HP one available.

Under the Driver tab I see that I have Driver Version 8.15.10.2900 dated 26/11/2012. Hitting the "Update Driver" tab and going to the Search Internet option just tells me I have the latest driver.

I know that I could search the Intel site, but as I can't find any data within the computer on the exact Intel Graphics Card that I have, I'm not sure how to proceed.

Hi, decided to have a quiet holiday so am just back investigating further. I have Integrated Intel HD Graphics, which I think means that the Graphics hardware is contained within the CPU chip. I have uninstalled the existing graphics driver as suggested by Laptop_Nerd earlier and tried downloading HD Series Driver for Windows 10 from the Intel site, file was win64_153338.exe, but when I tried to install it came back with a message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". So if anyone has any other suggestions I'll be very pleased to have them!
Kind regards,
SandyB
