I just upgraded from Windows 7 but I suddenly found a problem with my speakers.
I have an Intel DH67GD with Realtek HD Audio. The thing is that now that I upgraded to W10 I only get the option of side speakers in 5.1. My MOBO only has a rear speakers jack so obviously now that I choose 5.1 I can't hear anything behind me and no sound comes from the rear speakers. The current driver I installed is 6.0.1.7541. Please help.

Solution
I think I fixed it. I simply uninstalled the realtek driver and used some default generic microsoft driver and now I get the 5.1 back speaker option back. Gonna test it for a while to see if I have all the functionality, but seems okay so far.

EDIT: I finally kinda fixed the problem by going around it. I simply remaped the Realtek onboard jacks. So I changed my rear speaker jack into a side speaker jack.

Probably all you need do is delete your old drivers and let Win 10 search and find best drivers.
My old Win 7 Audio drivers were a bit flakey and so that's what I did, and it worked fine.
New drivers had all 5.1 features avail etc.

HTH

Tried uninstalling the drivers and then installing the latest from the Realtek page and still nothing. When asking Windows to do it, it just tells me that I have already the latest drivers for the device.

Any other ideas?

So I disabled Windows 10 automatic driver update and installed the one I was using with Windows 7 (6.0.1.7240) and still have the same problem, rear speakers remaing greyed out and can only select side speakers in both Windows sound configuration and Realtek HD audio manager. Can only make them sound in Quadraphonic(but I loose center and sub) or in 7.1(but mobo doesn't have jack for sides).

Any ideas?

What? You said uninstall and reinstall. He replied that he did that, and it didn't work. Then he did something you didn't advise at all... and you're taking credit for it? Odd.

This is a pretty well known issue with Windows 10 that has been around since the TP and affects Realtek sound devices and some other hardware. Microsoft is aware and is working on a fix. They've just been working on it for a long time....

Read what he said.. he said he uninstalled and installed realtek.. which s not what I advised.. then he messed around with old Win 7 drivers.. then finally said he used generic windows.. which is what I said.. i.e. I took to mean he just uninstall and let windows detect/install.. and he said it worked (though he later edited to say he did get it work with realtek drivers).

So not odd.. beyond why he didn't do the obvious first (when I said I had same prob and it had resolved for me)
Cheers
