An on/off again is a problem with connecting to a network drive. When using my office computer and trying to access the observatory computer both on the wired network and the same workgroup (MSHOME) sometimes I can't connect to it's drive although I can see the computer under networks and I can and have connected to the computer via TeamViewer. Opening up Network and Sharing Center only shows two options set up a new network and Troubleshoot. Any idea welcomed. Sometimes it connects just fine or takes a few tries. This evening it took over 20 minutes and I rebooted several times as well.

Thanks

When a reboot of the OS tends to rectify a problem then the culprit can be found within the drivers or the OS. Is it possible to pass on your full systems specs? Have you made sure your BIOS and device drivers(namely the Ethernet/wireless adapter) are up to date? You may be interested in performing a repair install and see if any progress is made. You may also want to take a look at this guide by Microsoft.

What is interesting and frustrating is that this is a random issue. I have found that several attempts to reach network drives will fail and then all of a sudden connect. I'm going to leave this as a Windows 10 quirk for now as other issues have been seen after updates. One recent update left me without any internet or network capability. I rolled that update back and all has been well since. My opinion is that Windows 10 is still a infant OS that has a lot of growing pains left and that's why the observatory control computer will be the very last to be moved over to it. There's entirely too many devices ,mounts, focusers, CCD Cameras, flat panels, dew heaters, roof/dome controllers, rotators and so on that are not common place computer devices that have solid working Windows 7 drivers and do very well in that environment where Windows 10 seems to be growing slowly. Some of these devices are serial port.

The network issue for now seems resolved with my network so I'll go along for now and see how well it behaves. They may well have made changes that resolved this and other network problems. Thank you for the reply.
