I was planning on upgrading my fx 6300 to an i5 4690k. I obviously would have to upgrade my mobo. I'm running windows 10 oem. I know that it is tied to my mobo, so in order to upgrade, I would need a new copy of windows. What would be the smartest way to keep all of the things on my hdd when upgrading? How would I go about the installation process? Would buying an oem key from g2a be smart? Thanks!

P.S. I'm new around here. Sorry about possibly vague questions

Did you purchase the Windows 10 OEM or did you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 OEM?

I upgraded from windows 8.1 oem. I actually call MS and they told me i would have to revert back to windows 8.1 for it to be activated.
BTW: I already made my upgrades and am running on an unactivated windows 10
