Im reinstalling windows 10 and Its telling me to choose an operating system with 2 options: windows 10 and windows 10 on volume 2. I don't understand this. Can someone explain it to me please

Solution

Just remember that when you plug in the other disk you'll have that popup again once. Just select the primary windows install and boot into windows, and then go to disk manager and remove all volumes from the HDD (until it is one piece), and then reformat it to NTFS.

I have an ssd and a hdd but I selected to only install on my ssd. So idk why its 2

I can't tell you why, it's something you did. Just remove the second disk and reinstall. After that, attach the other disk and wipe it clean before using (full format, from disk manager, removing all partitions)

Yeah you need to unplug any secondary drives before installing Windows. Otherwise the boot files get placed on the wrong drive.

okay I restarted my computer and unplugged my hdd. Now its telling me that it cannot create or find a partition. Now what do I do

whew. I was getting worried, but that worked. Now its installing windows on the ssd. Tysm

just 1 more question. On my HDD I have videos and games on there from before I uninstalled windows 10. WIll I be able to use them since inm only reinstalling on my ssd

but I have files on there that I want. cant I transfer them 1st

But if I format then wont that erase the files on it (question mark)

Okay I installed the HDD and it works fine. ALL my movies and games are on it. So is there any reason to format it still?

If it still has a boot partition it might give you problems later. You can just delete the boot partition, but you'll lose that ~100mb until you format.
