Windows 10 PC Freezing and making looping buzz noise.

Ever since I have built my desktop, my PC will at random times freeze and produce a loud buzzing noise through the headset. It is not a unresponsive program, as other things would run. It is similar to what happens before a BSOD, but no BSOD happens. I have checked the Event Viewer log for "System" and found nothing related. Tried updating and reverting GPU drivers, no change. I even bought a new GPU, still same issue. I re-installed Windows 10, no change. I ran the Windows Memory Check for the RAM, nothing. I am suspect of my PSU. I have had this issue for months, any suggestions?

Try running the free version of http://www.memtest86.com/ on your ram, one stick at a time. Any errors one too many, need to replace stick

The buzz sound probably drivers, not the PSU. If it were PSU I would expect PC to restart, not freeze.

Is Windows Memory Diagnostics not efficient? I will use Memtest86. How many times should I run it on each stick?

memtest might find errors the windows test cannot.

I think if its going to give you any errors it should in a few hours.

Well I ran Memtest86 for 20 hours. It completed all 4 phases with no errors.(all 48 tests) And it appears the problem has evolved. My PC randomly shut off completely while playing a game today.

It could be a video driver issue. I used to have video drivers that would partially crash, and exhibit the same type of behaviour.

I opened a thread about this same issue but it seems everyone lost interest in replying so I'm restarting. My PC since I built it last year has been freezing up during video processing, gaming, or video streaming such as YouTube or Netflix. The whole system freezes, it is not a case of a "not responding" program. I also hear a loud buzzing noise through my headset or whatever sound device was connected at the time.

Specifications:
OS= Windows 10
GPU= GTX 1060(previously had a 960)
CPU= AMD FX-8350
Motherboard= Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
PSU= EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR 500watt
RAM= HyperX Fury (1x8gb) have 2

Have tried:
Updating or reverting GPU drivers.
Replacing GPU.
Ran Memtest86 for full 4 phases(24hrs).
Updating motherboard drivers.
Checked temperatures, both CPU and GPU never got above 80 degrees C.
Ran Valley GPU benchmark and CPU Burn for 20 mins each.

Suspect:
I suspect the sound card part of the motherboard. A friend has had an issue similar with his sound card on his motherboard drivers crashing and Windows having nothing in the Event Log.

Your have good spec and it is not about your build. The problem are:

1. Only on your registry. I am sure you install registry cleaner such as CCLeaner or others. DONT USE REGISTRY CLEANER.
2. THe hardward seldom failed. The crash while using is not hardward failure. It is your software problem installed.
3. Using hard disk sata for windows installation directory is will slow your PC to read. Recommended to use SSD hard disk and stored the windows installation into it.
4. Your power supply is too minimum. Recommended to change to 650watts because your build is for the gaming and heavy duty software tasking.

I forgot to mention I tried re-installing Window 10 recently and I have the issue still, so is it possible it is not the registry?

Try replacing the thermal paste on your CPU and GPU. I am going to try this myself, don't know when though.

Hey buddy I had the same problem about a month ago I assumed it was a GPU or PSU problem but it actually lied within the hard drive I had, It was a faulty one and I had to send it back. Cheers!
