As soon as windows loads it goes ahead and shuts itself down. It displays the "system is shutting down" screen. Like if I was manually shutting it down. Sometimes it does it immediately after loading windows and sometimes it takes 10 seconds.
At first I believed it to be the power supply or CPU overheating. However, I changed the stock heatsink to a Cooler Master Vortex Plus heatsink I had lying around and applied arctic silver thermal paste. Nothing.
I went through the hassle of momentarily connecting my 750 watt PSU from my gaming PC to no avail. All the system fans are spinning along with the PSU fan, GPU fan, and CPU fan. The BIOS does not tell me any temperature. Booting into safe mode yields the same results.
I believe this is a Windows 10 issue because I ran the hardware diagnostic tool from the BIOS, it took around 40 minutes to complete and it did not shut down. It is not a PSU issue because I changed the setting in the BIOS to auto turn on in case of a power failure.
This is an aged micro-atx Compaq PC which I upgraded to modern times for a family member (lol). It was working fine for months until this auto shut down issue started yesterday.
The specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 925 (no OC)
6GB DDR2 RAM
120GB SSD
MSI GT 710
420 watt PSU
