Windows 10 PC turns itself on

I built a gaming rig for a friend back in august and ever since he got the computer home it has randomly turned itself on after a proper shut down. He says sometimes it happens right away but most of the time he shuts it down, goes to bed or leaves for work and when he gets home/wakes up his computer is powered on. Whats weird is that in event viewer he has critical errors "Kernal-power event id 41" happening a few times a week dating back to august. but says that his computer has never randomly shut down on him.
in CMD running "powercfg -lastwake" returns the following result

Wake History Count - 1 Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0

with no information as to what is waking the computer.. Another note, and this is conjecture, the event id 41's do NOT appear to coincide with when the computer turns itself on, but rather (sometimes, not everytime) when he manually turns the computer on after a proper shut down.
I have disable WOL settings in the bios and in windows to make sure it wasn't something that simple.
I also checked and windows is reporting no wake timers. Other than this he is not experiencing any issues with the PC.
I am at a loss for what else to check guys. Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-z97x gaming 7

What are rest of the parts? Does it have latest bios?

Win 10 doesn't shutdown like win 8 or 7, it goes into hybred hibernate, and puts PC to sleep until you press the power button on case - or that is how it should work.. If he has an SSD, he can turn off this feature by doing this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10-a.html and that should stop PC starting itself.

I don't know how it can be restarting even with fast startup on. What has he set the power switch to do? I helped one guy months ago with a PC that wouldn't turn off but it ended up being a bios setting conflicting with a windows setting for power. Your friends PC turns off so thats not it.

Is he using hibernate?

What time is PC set to run windows update? I don't think it can turn PC on for an update unless its just asleep or hibernating. Never woken mine up for instance.
