Hi guys,

My pc over the past 24hours has begun to play up which eventually turned into it not even starting up. It seems to freeze on the windows load screen.

Before this the screen randomly went blank a few times. Gifs were dark for a few moments before loading in correctly.

The power is fine. I ran scans which say windows is fine. Any advice on what the problem might be would be great. Am downloading a video to youtube showing the problem. Will update with link

If you think the OS is not the problem could be a bad hard drive. make a boot disc with seatools and test it http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/

Whenever you're having boot issues, the usual culprit is your Boot Manager, which technically lies outside the OS, which is likely why it wasn't detected.

There's a chance it could be something else, but either repairing the Boot Manager or eliminating it as a possible issue should be the first thing you do.

With Boot Managers, there's two ways to fix having a broken one:

1) Run Startup Repair
2) Re-install the OS

Running Startup Repair first will attempt to repair any damaged components or the Boot Manager. If that fails to fix it, then the next step would be to re-install the OS. This completely replaces the Boot Manager, which may be necessary depending on the severity of the damage to it. You'll lose any other data that's on your OS drive.

If those work, then I would immediately back up your machine with either a disk imager (i.e. Macrium Reflect) or a snapshot tool (i.e. RollBack Rx). If it doesn't work, that's when you're going to want to start running diagnostics on your various parts, including the hard drive.
