Hello.

I built a pc a few months ago. I had a random 297GB laptop HDD that I used for the build to save costs. I installed windows 10 on this hdd and I filled it full. I am now looking to splurge on a 500GB ssd (although not sure which particular brand yet), and I want to give away the old hdd to someone. So the question lies in:
1.) How do I transfer EVERYTHING from my HDD to the new ssd when i get it, and is it possible to transfer windows 10? Or use the same product key?
2.) Are there any programs you recommend for such a task?

I enjoy the hardware/building aspect of computers, and am quite experienced in that field, but as far as software, Im looking for some help.

Thank you!

You're currently booting from this drive...

You're currently booting from this drive?
This is a desktop system?

Assuming the system is working correctly, and you get an SSD of sufficient size...these steps, in order:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:
