Windows 10 Pro encrypting files on its own

Today i started up my computer logged in and was greeted by windows asking me to back up my encryption key. i was confused as i never encrypted anything. i went and checked if bitlocker was somehow activated but it was not on any of my drives. so i went ahead and did a cipher search and got a lot of results on my C: and E: drive. my E: drive is the drive i install all my games on, and i noticed that all the encrypted files were windows app related either about halo 5 forge or gears of war 4. there might have been more but i couldnt catch a picture and cannot find any of the files on the E: drive anymore with cypher.

i would run a virus scan and make sure your computer is fully updated. this might have something to do with the wannacry ransom ware virus spreading around the net.

computer is fully up to date and im running a virus scan just in case but i would be surprised there is any. i have googled around and apparently am not the only one having that issue but no one ever got an answer for it. i also started up a game to see if it would boot with this weird encryption and it works so i guess windows is encrypting windows store app files?

edit: virus scan came up clean like i expected
