My PC has been experiencing regular hard freezes every few days and works fine after a hard reboot and chkdsk.
When it freezes, the screen stops at the last frame, nothing works at all the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive and leaving it there for a few hours doesn't change anything, the only way is hard reboot.

In the event viewer these messages will always appear after reboot.(the freeze occured around 12:30 or abit earlier):
Warning 4/5/2016 12:29:49 PM TaskScheduler 414 Task Misconfiguration
Warning 4/5/2016 12:29:37 PM e1dexpress 27 None
Warning 4/5/2016 12:29:31 PM Kernel-PnP 219 (212)
1.Error 4/5/2016 12:29:37 PM Eventlog 1101 Event processing
2.Critical 4/5/2016 12:29:29 PM Kernel-Power 41 (63)
3.Error 4/5/2016 12:29:36 PM EventLog 6008 None
the details for the last 3 events are below.

Its weird that the last event at 12:29:36PM says "The previous system shutdown at 11:54:03 AM on ?4/?5/?2016 was unexpected." when no shutdown had occurred, I've been using the PC since 10 AM until the freeze around 12:30 PM. Why is this happening??
Thanks in advance

well maybe ? I was looking for a old thread with a guy like you and he sent his cpu back for exchange and I I recall it did do the trick ?? I guess like everything else you could get a lemon in a cpu as well ?? [also it seemed it was a 4790]

no it was a skylake

''I got my new CPU today and everything seems to be working as it should.''

thing is it shows theres a chance ?? [notice how many views/reads this thread all ready got ?? just like the ones I posted to you at first , lots of intrest on this issue and 10] ]
Well here is what is weird. MiniXP just loads into memory so if it is freezing or taking forever to load with that then it would eliminate the HDD even though all the freezing you have stated can be associated with a faulty HDD (I have seen it cause all these issue).

With that I would relegate it to the RAM or motherboard. This is hard to test without having good parts to test with.

Also do you have the CPU overclocked?

The reason I say that about the RAM though is because it is not a good idea to mix brands or even same brand but different line. Even the same line can have minute differences that can cause instability in the system. Normally not during POST though.

Do you have any other "spare" RAM to test with that is not of your original? Even though I doubt it happened it could be that all three sticks of RAM have gone bad. I mean it would be like winning the lottery rare but it is possible and I have run into people who have the worst luck and tend to have these things happen to them.

Seems like it was the RAM after all, the G skill RAM placed in a certain slot would cause issues while changing the slot seems to have solved it. Is it possible for a DRAM slot to become faulty?
I'll test it over the next few days to see if its fixed or if the freezes still come back.
I've noticed disabling the HPET in bios cut the freeze frequency down as well.

And another side question ram related, I have 2X4gb CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 DDR3 they're supposed to be 1600MHz why does the bios tell me they are 1333Mhz ram instead?
I'm running them at 1600Mhz anyway, maybe this causes the freezing?

The RAM gets set to the max speed supported normally and you have to either set it manually or select the XMP profile to get the 1600MHz.

It is possible for a RAM slot to fail but it could also be due to the configuration based on the memory. I have seen some memory need to be in certain slots first unless all slots are filled.

I've removed the Gskill Ram and set the Corsair rams to Auto(1333MHz), setting it to 1600MHz will cause freezes in games and also produces a lot of heat.

The freezes seemed to have gone but its back again.
The system froze and after reset the event log says that "system shut down at 2:30 pm was unexpected",the system has been running since 01:00 pm and no shutdown until the freeze at 3:20 pm, what the heck?

I seem to have narrowed down:
NOT WiFi adapter (uninstalled the drivers and unplugged it): froze while I was playing an offline game

Running with just 1 Ram stick and 1 Hard disk an on-board intel gpu:
Screen suddenly turns black and goes into power saving mode while in use, while idle, sound cut off.
And after hard reset the display is back.
I have a feeling this is the cause of the freeze when I run on my NVIDIA GPU.
I'm using a Dell U2414H Monitor mouse and keyboard are connected to monitor,
monitor connected to chasis through 2 wires: Hdmi and some other cable(I dunno what the other cable is, it has a USB on one end and some weird port on the other)
I've also noticed that during boot it, sometimes I just get a black screen until a while later windows boot manager appears and boots, skipping the "press F2 to access bios screen".
Is this a faulty monitor, a faulty Hdmi cable or a faulty motherboard or Psu?

I'm running on the Intel Integrated Graphics with just 1 RAM and hard drive. It's pretty stable for now except for the black screen issue.

Three thoughts. First drivers. Did you get all your drivers from Asus and Nvidia, and are they Windows 10 compatible? Second, have you looked at the cryptic system error event log? It's very cryptic, but if you look for entries flagged ERROR in red, you can often get a clue as to the cause of the problem. FWIW there's a tool called MiniToolBox that will strip out the most recent 10 of these and give you a list of them. You can download it from BleepingComputer.com.
Finally I'd do a chkdsk on the hard drive you have Windows on. Sometimes one or more sectors can go bad and cause the "unpredictable results" we all know and don't love. :) I saw where you swapped hard drives, but I'd do the chkdsk anyway, just to rule that out as a possibility.

Good luck.

Chkdsk /f, /r all found no errors with both drives. While the event log doesn't tell me much.
Under Administrative Events, Events 8198, 27, 219, 1101, 41, 8198, 10016 are appearing regularly but solutions I found on Google doesn't work.

Running on the Intel GPU and only 1 ram while all other extra parts are removed I still face the random and sudden black screens. Some boots run fine while some blacks out minutes after boot. Its too unpredictable, not sure if the motherboard, PSU, CPU, hdmi cable or the monitor itself is faulty?

I still get 219 while running on-board intel gpu, and the 8198 is probably related to windows 10 activation which I'll need to reactivate.
The screen just keeps blacking out on each boot and goes to power saving even when I'm using it, so annoying.

what does it say against event 219 in the general description in event viewer?

We can work out what it isn't judging by test results. Not hdd, not wifi adapter, not CPU, not Ram (anymore)... not a lot left.
Curious, can you see if gpu you removed works in another pc? It may not be the cause at all, just a symptom.

Its probably either motherboard or power now. the two hardest parts to test. Eliminating all the other parts is usually what leads you to them. Testing power is left to electricians but you can look at voltages in bios as its next best step. Motherboard tests all cost money, unless you have linux.

I've decided to send the PSU to Corsair to find out if there's anything wrong, if not I'm going to RMA the motherboard and GPU with ASUS and maybe CPU and ram as well. That ought to single out the problem component.

if you google them event id's you see there a lot to do with networking

I guess you never tried the Linux live dvd I suggested you do above to see if it was a hardware or OS issue ?

I've tried uninstalled the WiFi adapter(plug N play device) drivers and unplugged it, but it still froze even then so I thought it wasn't the cause behind the freezes. And the Linux boot disc similar to Mini-xp by Hirens all freezes while they are loading, wasn't able to access them at all. So I thought this would rule out software issues as well.

I'm still not sure what's causing those issues after trying so many things, but I guess I'll RMA the PC components until the freezes and blackscreens are gone. Although tere's a possibility that it might not be hardware issues as well, since I see that all components are physically undamaged and works fine sometimes, then I guess I'll just get brand new hard disks to install the OS or just get a network card to see if the WiFi adapter is messing things up.

I think there are no bent pins on my motherboard's socket: CPU Socket

looks good just something to be looked at though ? don't know , maybe down to replace stuff until...... ? you seen from the first post I gave all the views them threads get on this Freezes thing between 10 and skylake

whats funny is this one I gave toms completely removed from there site that at the time I posted it to you had 13,481 reads back then ??

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2830772/skylake-build-randomly-freezing-crashing.html

hmmmmm.... why do you think they did that ??

maybe go relook and some of the solved ones to see if one may help?/

the cpu lid still has thermal paste on it and that's why it appears as though there are no letters.

I'll give the solutions in the thread a try when I get back all my PC components which might take sometime, the RMA process with the distrubutor in my region takes a minimum of a month.
Although there are no freezes for me in bios, at cold boot my PC normally doesn't even beep and gets stuck at qcode "07" or some other code that reveals nothing about the issue at all, while cpu led is lit. While the freezes and blackscreens are often during or after boot manager starts into Windows.
I've got my PSU back after testing with Corsair and they said nothing is wrong so got RMA rejected.
Looks like either cpu, motherboard or a small chance that it's the RAM.
