So I recently installed Windows 10 pro on my system that I built. It had been running linux Ubuntu 18.04 and I bought windows 10. I installed it and all went well. I downloaded the new drivers, fortnite, minecraft, chrome, spottily and an overclocking software from Gigabyte. After installing these, I played fortnite for a while. I shutdown my computer and the next day I opened it up and could not do anythiing. Windows was slow and unresponsive. I couldnt open anything or even access the start menu. I tried resetting windows but it encountered an error Im stuck with a slow system. Can anyone help?
My Build:
Intel Core i5 7400
Nvidia GTX 1050
Gigabyte Gaming B8 motherboard.
2x Crucial 2400 Mhz 4gb ram
A apple 500gb hard drive
550w PSU

Solution
First, check see if your CPU is ramping up to at least 3.x GHz during heavy usage by looking at task manager/performance, and running a simple Defender scan; you should see the CPU fluctuate between 1-3.x GHz or so....

Check your temps by looking at HWMonitor during the Defender scan...if you see CPU temps nearing 99C, your CPU is throttling....

Check you Windows Power Plan, and make sure it is set at least to Balanced....(you do not want "Power Saver'!)

I just carefully re-read your post 'Gigabyte overclocking software'..
Remove it, there is no overlcokcing to speak of on an i5-7400....anything that fails might result in your clock speed being set to a default 800 MHz...see what clock...
