So I have a bit of a problem where my screen flashes, I instantly thought it was display drivers so I uninstalled them only to worsen the problem, the computer restarted with a black screen which later turned into a desktop screen with no icons and a flashing screen (can't click anything or even load up the start menu with the windows key). I put it into safe mode but it does the same thing. Nothing works except task manager and i can't run task from it or it will exit out, system restore doesn't fix the issue either. Computer is a lenovo k450 i5-4440 8gb ram 1tb hdd with an evga gtx 760. If you need any more info let me know.

Solution
To answer the issue with your screen flashing this could've been a probable solution. Now, have you tried installing the graphics drivers while in Safe Mode since the files are located on the drive itself(with an elevated command i.e run as administrator)?

The odd part is that there is no BIOS update available on your driver download page though I assume all of the drivers found here were used to update your system.

Since you own an Nvidia graphics card have you downloaded and installed version 359.06 from here?

Solution
The first link I tried every fix but nothing worked, then I couldn't update the graphics drivers in safe mode because nothing worked except task manager. I ended up resetting and it didn't even fix it, then I did factory reset and just reinstalled everything which is what I didn't want to do. So the problem is fixed, probably going to end up staying on windows 8 on this system for now.

Hmmm so the key word in your post would be nothing works (no pun intended) usually when that happens its a sign that your Windows Files are corrupted and with the way things are going for most Windows 10 users it's either a multitude of clean installations or just reverting to their OS's in frustration.

Well the good thing is that the issue no longer exists (pun intended) :)

Thanks for telling me what was going on, my brother only told me he was playing counter strike and shut off his computer when he was done, and when he turned it back on it turned in this whole mess. Is there a better way of fixing this if this happens again?

You're welcome bud!

Well with the way Microsoft can edit your settings and delete some things at their discretion (stated in their EULA) there's only guess work involved to hunt for a missing piece of your system(drivers/settings) which isn't a good thing to do on an ultimatum or for people with short patience/temper meters.

To solve an issue with Windows 10 the one thing you can do is perform a clean install. There was an issue with their digital media ISO and was pulled off - haven't had time to read into it but I've learnt they fixed it with uploading a functioning non corrupt version.

Advice level, Jedi - always backup your critical data. Your hardware and software fall under warranty and/or support but not your data where most of the money is(for those that live off that data).

Better way, as of now - no :/

had this problem before, simillar to him. i asked alot of forums and youtubers currently having this problem, they say the problem is iCloud or windows error reporting servie etc.. some solutions indicate that they uncheck it from msconfig,

(i had this problem upgraded from 8.1 to 10, screen flickers, wont let me login.. or when i login successfully it wont continue, it will land me to the login screen again.. and screen flickers as follows, i tried restarting over and over again and after the 10th restart or so.. my laptops BIOS wont even boot , LED screen completely black, but i can hear the cpu is running..
im still trying to find a solution to this matter because i want to try out windows 10 in my desktop but im afraid that this disaster will happen again..)

i hope somone can help me
