Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but giving it a shot.
I am using Wallpaper Engine for my daily screensavers in Win10. (Avoid having a static screen when not in front of PC-Avoiding burn in or burn retention) Mind you, this issue also happens if I just use Win10 screensaver.
I have the wallpaper set to start at 3min when PC is idle. Both methods mentioned, no problem-works as expected. Problems is, when I finish playing a game such as GTA V or any other games that are intense, the screensavers no longer kick in on their own. I would have to reboot in order to get the SS to take over at the 3min idle setting. I was thinking it couldn't be the hardware because I had this issue even before I upgraded my system. Just in case, my specs are:

Asus Prime Z690-P D4
Intel i5-12600KF ( No OC)
G-Skill Trident Z Royal 2X16GB Ram
Asus Tuf Gaming RTX 3080 (No OC)
Corsair RMx850 PSU
Deepcool LS720 AIO

Can anyone figure out what causes the screensaver to constantly do this after I have finished playing a game? Thanks

For the most part, I have no concerns about burn in or burn retention. Simple to just turn off the monitor(s) or shutdown. My normal SOP is a simple lock screen when away from the computer.

What may be happening is some conflict with regards to the power plan being used.

Also: are there any monitor specific drivers installed? If so the monitor driversmay be involved in some manner.

I suggest taking a look in Reliability History/Monitor, Event Viewer, and Task Scheduler.

Look for any captured entries (Reliability History and Event Viewer) or Task Scheduler actions triggered at some 3 minute mark.

Start with Reliability History/Monitor. Look for entries of any sort ( error code, warning, or even informational) that appear 3 minutes after playing a game.

Remember that you can do screen captures of what you find and can post those screen captures here via imgur (www.imgur.com).

Not sure what I am supposed to look for, but here in Reliability History I have chosen some random dates where I had the issue and this is what is shown. More images shown when you click the link. Also there is no monitor drivers. My PC is connected to a 55in, 4K TV.

Something seems astray with Grand Theft Auto.

And what is LightingService?

l found this:

https://www.file.net/process/lightingservice.exe.html

Is that app something you know and use?
Yeah I don't understand this either. GTA doesn't shut down. That is where I ended playing the game. It closes the way it is supposed to. Why it is listed as something different is beyond me. LightingServive is from Aura. Asus RGB control program for the motherboard. It shows that I installed it and also uninstalled it. But the issue has been happening way before I installed that program and after. So It can't be that. It is driving me crazy just to try and figure out why this only happens (The Screensaver issue) after I have finished playing a game.

I do not believe that "Stopped working" represents a normal shutdown. Line being application failures.

Take a look at the technical details by clicking any given entry.

The details (error codes etc.) may or may not be helpful.

Uninstall Lightning Service to determine if the problems end.

If not then reinstall GTA.

OK. What I am saying is this. GTA has never stopped working. Not once since I have started playing it for the past few days. I don't know why it is stated it "Stopped Working". Lighting service gets deleted when you uninstall Aura. Why it's stating "Lighting Service stopped working" is crazy as well. Here are the technical details of each-GTA and Lighting Service. Also, keep in mind that this issue with the screensaver not kicking in after paying an intense game-not just GTA, has been happening before with my old PC setup. Not just now happening. When I play Sniper Elite 5-it too does the same with the screensaver. Lighter games do not effect the screensaver like these two do.

"Stopped working" - I think I understand what you are saying but "Windows" does not.

Something is happening to where Windows is reporting/capturing an application problem. May or may not be apparent from an end user viewpoint.

Both Windows show "APPCRASH" attributed to LightningService.

So you have uninstalled AURA and Lightning Service was deleted. - correct?

There could still be something left behind.

Take a look in Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free)

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

What you are looking for are anything that is unknown or unexpected .

No need to immediately react - simply google to learn more about what it is and what does (or should be) doing.

I found the following link:

https://www.file.net/process/lightingservice.exe.html

Not uncommon to have malware snuck in using the name of some Windows Service.

Especially with respect to games and utilities.....

LightningService is not running on my computer and I do not remember ever seeing that process.

If legitimately installed then the installation is buggy or corrupt. If not legitmately installed then your system may be infected in some manner.
