Hello Tom's Hardware community. So today after updating my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 everything was fine I managed to open the Windows 10 desktop and then it said that is has to update the Windows.I left it to update and when I returned I found a blue error screen saying "Windows encountered a problem and needs to restart".And now when I boot the PC it keeps on restarting and can't even reach login screen. The Windows is genuine it was preloaded on the laptop when I bought it and also I don't mind losing my data I just want to fix the laptop.I don't have a disc to use for repair and even don't know how to repair.Thank you in advance!UPDATE: system thread exception not handled athwbx.sys is the error and I can boot in Safe mode.

Check this article out and see if that helps:

Windows 10 may not have done the best job of pickup up the drivers it needed (or picked wrong),

NOTE: You may have to enable the legacy 'Advanced Boot Options' in the BIOS to get the process started (in directions).

If you need to create a Win10 boot disc, you'll have to find another computer to do that on (obviously), but the link is here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install

This should get you to the point where you can attempt a repair.

If you can get it to load, please check out the 'device manager' in the control panel to see if you have hardware that is causing the problem...

If you can get it to load, please check out the 'device manager' in the control panel to see if you have hardware that is causing the problem (again, usually from not having the right drivers, or the wrong ones). This will mean finding the support page for your model number on the laptop manufacturers page, where they usually either list the hardware so you can go out and find the right drivers, or if you're lucky, the drivers to download right on the support page.
