Im having a weird problem with Chrome.

I go to sleep watching Netflix and want by PC to go to sleep too. It used to work fine on WIN 7 but just doesnt want to when netflix is open in the browser.

However it will happily go into sleep mode when im WATCHING youtube? lol literally in the middle of a vid playing and it just goes to sleep!

It seems to work fine with disney+ and Amazon, just will not do it with Netflix?

So lookin to sort the 2 problems her. I dont want it to sleep while a vid is playing on youtube and want it to sleep when netflix is open in browser. Netflix does the press here yo continue and itll stay like that for hours until i awake and press sleep

Anyone able to shine some light on this?

Solution
Okay, so completely different PC to win 7.

Much of the time Sleep problems are caused by older drivers, but this works in reverse to what you want, it turns off for Youtube but not for netflix.

Do you use same browser for both? Or is there a Netflix app? I don't watch TV/movie so I don't know.
What GPU have you got? Do you have latest display drivers?
No it's a different build as my mobo broke so I changed it.

Now running Asus z390 pro. I5-9600k Samsung sata m.2 860. Corsair vengance 3600mhz 16gb ddr4.

Solution
An MSI GTX 1070 x gaming 8gb. All drivers up to date.

Yeah all played within Chrome.

I have just found that there is a Netflix app for win 10 so I will try that tonight and see what happens.

have you tried the new Edge? Its based on an older version of Chrome though so might have same problem
What chrome add ons are you running? Just wondering if one of them might be cause.

so if you watch all these channels on Chrome and its only Netflix that keeps it awake, that is strange.

Google search is just not helping here, I ask it "netflix keeps PC awake" and first result is how to prevent pc from sleeping... yep, it didn't even read the search terms. it just matches words and has no clue how wrong it is. Google Search is basically just there to sell you things these days.

I think you might have to set it to allow the computer to sleep.

I might be wrong but take a look.

programs can call a windows function so that windows knows it is still running and will tell the system not to go to sleep.
hopefully the control panel setting will block the function. Otherwise it might be a registry setting or some setting in the user interface somewhere.
