Okay so the brand new PC that my cousin built was working perfectly. We started with Windows 7. For the wifi adapter, it said that it only worked with Windows 7. However, I needed Windows 10 so when I made it Windows 10, it worked perfectly for a day (I've had it for only a couple). However, I had some problems with the wifi so I put in the cd for the adapter drivers. It shutdown and now whenever I try to start it (yes, without the disc) it shuts down like 10 seconds after. I put in a Windows 7 install disc and help f8 and it worked and brought up the Windows 7 install screen. I tried to get it but none of the hard drives worked with it. I can get into the area with all the options with f8 for about 10 extra seconds but then it just stops. I've tried unhooking the adapter, turning the switch off and on, but it won't work. Help please.

Could you please pass on the full systems specs of the system you built with your cousin? It'd be best if you could include your wireless adapter as well.

I'd suggest that you create a bootable USB installer and attempt to go into Safe Mode. Once there the next step would be to go for a system restore to the point prior to the issue cropping up. The eventuality is that you reinstall your OS and with the additional info of your systems specs, we could probably source latest drivers and/or BIOS updates. Please follow this guide should you want to go with the clean install route without the upgrade path.

The other side to this story is that the drivers on your driver disc might have...

The other side to this story is that the drivers on your driver disc might have been outdated and thus might have been causing an issue or the eventual corruption of your OS's files.

When you have legacy hardware and/or device drivers the best option is to go about installing them under Compatibility Mode:
Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows 7/8 [from the drop down menu]
