have you tried this?

download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB (possibly make it on a PC that doesn't have update problems)

once you have USB, put it in PC that won't update, while windows is running
open file explorer and navigate to the USB
run setup.exe and agree to upgrade current install
PC should restart and install 22H2.

Answer here could help with error - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/115910/how-to-fix-0x8007001f-on-windows-10

Not from when I made the bios change I havent. Before when it was in ide mode it would restart then about 40 or 60 % done it would crash. Just wish these error codes was more useful of tell why it failed not just stupid stuff.

We would like to see the Installation log to check what caused the update to fail/stuck/rollback.

Share Setuperr.log and Setupact.log named files from
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\

and

C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther
You can open the folder by typing the path in Run or showing hidden files and viewing through explorer.

Use Onedrive/Google Drive/Mediafire to share the files and drop the links in the next reply.

can you do that?

what are specs of the PC?

do you have two users on PC? I would probably need to see these logs to be sure this link below applies - can you upload to a file sharing website and show link here?

it does appear to be an error mostly associated with upgrading from 1903.

Would it be too much to try a clean install? It would perhaps save time

have you tried this?

download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB (possibly make it on a PC that doesn't have update problems)

once you have USB, put it in PC that won't update, while windows is running
open file explorer and navigate to the USB
run setup.exe and agree to upgrade current install
PC should restart and install 22H2.

Answer here could help with error - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/115910/how-to-fix-0x8007001f-on-windows-10

here are the log files. as for clean install not something i can do as i do not have a way to back up the drive in case they needed something before it wipes the drive. i did buy a ssd drive for them to store there games downloads to. originally was going to install windows 11 or new build of 10 but even those crashed that before i change the drive mode from ide to ahci. so iam not sure what to do. windows 11 took but started to randomly crash or freeze up.

the computer is a intel i5-2400 with 8 gig of ram. 1050 ti nvidia gpu. i have tpm turn on and virtual setting in bios on. the suggestion of the kernal protect whatever is turn off already. so that dont help. there no anti virus on this machine other then default windows defender.

You need to fix THAT problem before doing anything else.

Unless, of course, the personal data on that drive means nothing to you.
Well seen windows keep force the it to try to update it a gamble there as it is. Would like to make it get past this so it will stop try to. Also most of there games are now say need the newer version

Your options right now are 1.
A full wipe and reinstall of the OS, and whatever else you need.

If you need to get some personal data off to somewhere else first, then you need to do that.
