So, I am selling my old computer, I have personal pictures and other things on the computer. When i went to factory reset it it asked if i wanted to do a "Quick reset" or something like a "complete reset" and the complete reset just makes sure that all the pictures and data can not be taken off the hard drive. So i chose the complete reset. Its almost been over 24 hours now since i started it. It has been stuck at 41% for over 6 hours now. I know these things take long. But is it normal to be stuck? Thanks!

Solution
if hdd is still doing stuff, i guess just leave it be. If its still doing it in 12 hours I would start to think about it not working. 2tb isn't that big really

Did you copy the pictures and other things off PC before running reset or are they on another hdd? A full reset wipes C drive and is meant to reinstall win 10 on same place, so any info on there before isn't going to be there after the reset. If on another hdd, they should still be there now.

how big is the hdd?

It sounds like its frozen. I assume you were giving them the hdd as part of deal? with win 10 installed?

the best bet is to fresh install win 10 again. on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

After a broken reset, I would suggest a fresh install
change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
follow this guide: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you reach the screen asking for licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install and reactivate once finished

On the screen where you choose where to install win 10, if it gives you an error about GPT drives, delete all the partitions on the hdd and press next. If it still gives error, cancel out of the installer and restart PC and start installer again, it will accept next on that screen this time (some PC just need a restart here)

when it comes to setting up users, just set one up called Admin and that way new user can decide what they want to do. I think you can leave password as blank.

Now see that is all a issue, The computer has a 1 TB hard drive. And its a pre-built. It came with windows 8.1 pre-installed but after windows 10 came out i updated to that, I have done this before and it just deleted everything and then started like new. I don't have a windows 10 disc or anything, The light on the computer is keeps flashing meaning that the hard drive is do alot of stuff right now, And i keep hearing it spin up and die down. This computer is only about 2 years old. I did not copy anything off the computer because i am selling it and moved all the pictures to my other computer. I'm selling the whole computer as a whole as i bought it pre-built and now selling it.
