So when Windows 10 was first released to the public, I downloaded it as soon as I had the chance. Drivers weren't released for my motherboard, so I downgraded and resumed with WIndows 7. I upgraded, again, to Windows 10 just now and I get the same error I get before...

Updated all my drivers before I upgraded, and after I upgraded in the small time period that I have before crashing. Looked online and found absolutely nothing with my problem, anyone got suggestions? I quite like the look of Windows 10 and have used it on my brother's laptop and enjoyed it, hence why I want it on my desktop.

I am currently in the process of downgrading for the second time, although it's taking longer than the previous time. Writing this on my very old laptop.

Specs

CPU: i5 3570
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro4
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
RAM: 12GB
HDD: 1TB (Around 500GB remaining)

" Also, Disable/un-install any/all USB 3.0 software from ASROCK. I've been reading online from several different people that that seemed to have been the cause of erratic behavior. "

I also have a ASRock Z77 extreme 4 with an unstable video driver.
Downloading the latest Intel Graphics 4000 did not help.
I just uninstalled the ASRock USB3 driver .
Did anyone else have any luck with that?

Peter
I think you need to upgrade the drivers after upgrading since Windows 10 tries to convert them during the upgrade. Just go to the manufacture website and get the drivers from there.
Also, the latest free version of Driver Booster from iobit has helped in a few cases.

I would suggest upgrading your drivers to Win 8.1 drivers AFTER you upgrade to Win 10. I have a ASUS Z77 m/b and had a similar issue. Once I was able to get a Win 10 boot, I immediately went to ASUS's web site and downloaded/installed the Win 8.1 drivers. Stable ever since. Also, Disable/un-install any/all USB 3.0 software from ASROCK. I've been reading online from several different people that that seemed to have been the cause of erratic behavior.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have time to download and install the drivers. Windows 10 takes an age to load up, and then Chrome/Explorer takes another age and by the time it's loaded to even the home page my computer crashes with the same error. I'll download them beforehand so I can go to my documents to install the drivers, but should I only get the 8.1 drivers or the 10 as well?

As with Netyoda, sorry for the late reply. I didn't think of upgrading my drivers after installation, only beforehand because that's what I was told by my friends who've already upgraded to 10. I'll try when I have more time to install and mess around.

Use Win10 drivers if they are available but worse case use Win8.1. Keep them in a local folder on your C: drive and once you boot successfully, go to Device Manager and right-click on the devices that have the exclamation point next to it, and select Update Driver Software. Point to the folder you have your drivers in. I'd reboot after updating the files just to clear any remnants of the old drivers.

I have an AMD graphics and card and upgraded from Windows 7 Home premium to Windows 10. I received "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (igdkmd64.sys)" BSOD every time Windows update tried to install Intel Graphics display driver HD 4000.

My solution was to do a complete reset. The cause of the BSOD, for me, was that upon Installing my GPU software I uninstalled the Intel display driver from Device Management. If you are having this problem after upgrading to Windows 10, try the following:

Uninstall GPU software. Update or install Intel CPU display driver. Then install GPU driver software. I'm not sure how Windows 10 will handle the intel display driver on the next update, but I may have to uninstall the GPU driver again in order to update the CPU display driver.
