So Ive had my pc for a while now using a 2tb hdd but always had an ssd but something wasn't working and only bothered to fix it today. So atlast I have the ssd empty on my computer but I want to move windows 10 and my browser to my ssd for better speeds. How do I do this? I heard you can just re install it on the ssd but with it also on the hdd will that affect it? Thanks

2 option:

Clean install on the SSD or clone from the HDD to the SSD.

Clean install - A fresh install of the OS and (mostly) everything else. Drivers, all your applications, etc.

Cloning - This is moving (mostly) everything from the current drive to the new drive. You can't pick and choose applications.

The new SSD must be significantly larger than the actual consumed space of the current HDD
The current OS install not be messed up. Otherwise, you're just moving the problem to a new drive.

Either way, eventually you will wipe the HDD, and get rid of the OS on it.

Solution
You can do a clean install on the ssd.
Leave the HDD and any other drives disconnected during the process. If you do not, windows will place some hidden recovery partitions on the HDD, making it impossible to ever operate without the HDD.

If you do a clean install, be prepared to reinstall any apps that use the registry.
That will be all of them.
Possibly steam games can be an exception.

When you are done, reconnect the HDD and your data files will still be accessible.

so I did manage to copy it onto the ssd but something messed up I need to reset my entire pc which is fine I don't actually store anything that can be reinstalled on my pc but will it keep my payed for windows liscence?

A reinstall, within the same system, will not invalidate the license key.
Being a new/different drive makes no difference.
