[SOLVED] Windows 10 uefi usb install won't recognise Samsung 850 nvme

Don't ask me how long I have had this built. Airbus z370 u/g2 + Samsung 850. I have read solved thread for this but bios menu options are different. Nvme can be made to appear as boot option but usb installer won't recognise it. Samsung is in m2q slot as recommended by aorus. In boot menu I have to enable cms to set secure boot to legacy and clear keys, then disable cms. I plug in uefi stick and save and reboot to bios. Nvme shows as selected boot option. I enable cms and restore keys then disable cms. Save and reboot to Windows installer where nvme doesn't show. Help, have had this built for too long and I am at a complete loss.

Never mind that secure boot and clearing keys keys mumbo jumbo. Put back all settings to their original state. Then try these steps

Create an up to date USB install media by following the steps outlined here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
Then disconnect or disable all hdd /ssd drives but the one where you will install windows.

Insert the USB media tool, with the windows install files, into the board. Next startup and go to the board setup and ensure the board is configured to use UEFI boot settings, CSM is enabled and SATA mode set to AHCI.

On the motherboard boot device menu, select the command that identifies both the firmware mode and the device. For example, select UEFI: USB Drive or Windows Boot Manager: USB and list that device in the first boot slot on the board.
Reboot. Install begins.

When choosing an installation type, select Custom. On new disks, the drive will show a single area of unallocated space. If there are partitions, select each one and then "delete".

Select the unallocated space and click Next. Windows detects that the PC was booted into UEFI mode, partitions the drive using the GPT and begins the installation.

NOTE: Any data on the drive will be lost

I have been trying this for a while and have got nowhere. I set up for boot as you advise and select UEFI.USB as a boot device. Windows installer starts, accepts my activation key and I select custom. Still no Samsung drive identified. I have had this Custom PC recommended build for over a year now and it makes a pretty monitor stand for my PS4Pro. SSD is in M2Q slot.

1. There is no "850 EVO NVMe" drive. Please clarify exactly what it is.
2. What motherboard is this going in?

Yes, the 850 m.2 is indeed a SATA drive.
"M.2" is just the physical plugin type.

That board requires the "M2A_32G" port for that drive.

Will do this in the morning. Have to dismantle the cooling to get at the M.2 slots
