Windows 10 Update (Almost) Bricked My Laptop

I have a Lenovo W530 with Windows 7 Pro SP1, and I installed Windows 10 with the WindowsMediaToolx64.exe file directly from Microsoft's Windows 10 page (meant for USB installing; but you can save it to your computer and install from that). 1st time installing didn't work (the program errored out halfway through; turns out I forgot a few Windows updates). 2nd time installing everything went well; but then once it completed and Windows 10 was installed, My computer restarted... then I was stuck in a boot loop (luckily I was able to access the F8 repair and revert back to Windows 7). Has anyone else had this problem or know why this happened?

You can't install properly from a locally installed file. You need to use the USB option or burn to a dvd using the following tool with the downloaded ISO.
