Hey, In My Laptop, The i5 10210u, currently has driver version ending with .7985, And Recently, windows update is telling to install UHD driver ending with .8935
I'm having doubt whether I should install it or not... as there is no driver newer than driver vers .7985 on my laptop manufacturer's website
Is it safe to install, is it better to do or not to do ? and why does windows gives updates like this ? Thanks For Helping!!!

Solution
laptop makers don't support devices forever so it is possible there are newer Intel UHD drivers'
the driver win 10 is trying to install is for UHD 620

that is the system in your CPU even though ARK doesn't want to say it - https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...10210u-processor-6m-cache-up-to-4-20-ghz.html

The integrated graphics card however is still the same as in the previous generations. It should be still called Intel HD Graphics 620 and clock from 300 - 1100 MHz in the i5.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-10210U-Laptop-Processor-Comet-Lake-U.430587.0.html

so it should be okay.

well, 7985 is from March last year, and 8935 is from November. I wonder if there is anything newer still

Try running this https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html as I can see mention of driver 9316 but I am not sure if its for your CPU.
is it safe and better to install the drivers compatible for my cpu from the websites ? my one buddy told it is wont be stable and may cause issues installing drivers that arent provided by the laptop manufacturer. im anxious lmao

It is normally a good idea to get drivers from laptop maker but you can't do that forever. There will come a time when they stop updating drivers and if you want to get newer ones, you have to look yourself.

I don't recommend 3rd party driver updating programs as they can install the wrong drivers

But people like Intel made the drivers that you would install from the laptop makers website anyway, the driver package might say its from the people who made laptop but often they just relabel Intel drivers. They are fairly safe to install from. I use that service myself.

What I would use to look is Driver view, it just looks at drivers installed, it won't install any

download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any (this is intentional as 3rd party driver updaters often get it wrong)

When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

3rd paragraph is there as most times you don't need to worry about WIndows drivers, the drivers that fall behind are all the rest that windows doesn't own.

I would run the intel updater as it will at least check you are on newest.

I am not sure why the windows update didn't change the version number, if I had to figure out which version is actually installed, you would need to look through Microsoft drivers - Driver view is useful for looking at non windows drivers but you can use it to look at the Microsoft drivers as well

I would have to figure out what the driver names are for the intel installers and then ask you to look for them on your PC, I don't have an Intel CPU so I don't have them on my PC to figure out driver names

And that is based on Microsoft not changing the version numbers of the drivers themselves, which they do. I may not be able to tell what driver version it really is.

Often the Driver version numbers only really match the version of windows 10 it was installed with. For instance, any device which just uses windows default drivers on my pc shows driver version as 10.0.19041.789 where 19041 is the version of Win 10 it was installed with
