I understand that Windows 7 does not Recognize more than 2TB hard drives. If I upgrade to Windows 10 will it solve this issue?

I am not having a problem. I had just seen where people were having problems getting windows 7 to recognize more than 2 TB hard drives unless they were formatted as GPT (I think that is the tern) So from what you are saying is it is the Motherboard and Bios settings that causes the problem? I have a Gigabyte GA-Z87x-d3h Motherboard with the latest Bios version. I was going to get a 4TB WD Green Drive. I just wanted some clarity on this before I purchase it.

GPT formatting allows the system to see more than the 2TB.
My Win 7 home server/HTPC system (before the upgrade to 10) happily had 2, 3, and 4TB drives.

But don't use a WD Green for your boot drive. Especially a large one like that.

I wasn't going to use it for boot. It is just to store pictures and video's. I already have a Samsung 850 evo with OS on it. I was just curious to find out if it was the OS or the Hardware that won't allow for larger capacity hard drives to be recognized unless you use GPT formatting

Thanks for your help. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if the same thing applies if you use a USB external drive for storage?
