So yesterday was the last day of win 10 upgrade so me and my friend gave it a try........it installed perfectly for me but in my friend's case its problematic......
It gets downloaded then the upgrade starts perfectly too ........... it all goes smoothly until the first stage i.e copying the files ...... then it enters the second stage i.e installing drivers it all goes smooth till the whole process reaches 65-70% progress and then suddenly "PC Auto Repair" screen shows and there two options along with it "restart" and "advanced option" but by that time the mouse and keyboard stops working ........ and after waiting for like 15 minutes previous windows is restored again....

Help me out of this please ......... we tried updating to win 10 two times and getting the same thing both the times

Installing from a DVD or USB is more reliable.
No, it doesn't wipe out anything more than the online method.

But, then time limit has passed, so you're out of luck there.
prob with that they ussally make ya up[grade the first time reguardless to activate the digital entitlement .
just putting in any win7 key or 8 key to activate it wouldn't work . but doesn't really matter now. the fre upgrades are over unless they extended it .

Yes, when it first came out that was the case.
As of the November 2015 release, that was no longer the case. You could use a valid qualifying Win 7/8/8.1 license to activate a clean Win 10 install.

So there's no apparent solution to this other than installing the ISO ?? Also installing it through USB media tool...........would i have to format my PC for that or my files will remain as they were before??

The windows is downloading tho...... 😵 kinda confused i mean if the time limit has passed why is it downloading??

Downloading the ISO is fine.
It just won't activate without a valid Windows 10 license key.

The 'time limit' was for the free Upgrade from a previous OS.

Oh ok.......

I'm no translator of Microsoft speak but I take it that so long as the upgrade was reserved before midnight last night - presumably EST - the work can still be done.

I particularly hope so because I have a new board here but the CPU won't arrive until Tuesday. I shall install and activate W7 then use my ISO on a stick to upgrade. I won't be online at that stage because I don't want the updates so I can't see how it could go wrong.

Will report back.

No, it needed to be installed and activated prior to the cutoff.
Reserving has no impact.

I've done 75 of these now and they never seem to activate in the conventional way so I assume they pick up on the genuine nature of the previous system.

I also seems that they're offering an extension to users of assistive technologies without any proof of need required. I can foresee folks taking advantage of that one.

Edit: The problem I may have is that my ISO on a stick doesn't have the 1511 update, in spite of only being downloaded a week or so back.

yeah saga it activates soon as ya have windows 10 installed and activate it online it dosent activate the digital entitlement til windows 10 is installed and online
