Windows 10 upgrade question

I have a machine running windows 8.1. i would like to upgrade to windows 10. I have an older machine running vista. I would like to use the software from the windows 8 machine and upgrade vista to 8.1. If I do this will this set a flag with microsoft even though 8 isnt being used on the first machine anymore.

The 8.1 key will no longer be valid after you upgrade to 10....Sorry.

8.1 won't activate , because key was used to upgrade to 10 on the other PC.


You need a new license for the Vista machine.

The Upgrade to Win 10 is just that...an Upgrade for that original 8/8.1 license.
You can't use that Win 8.1 license to Upgrade to 10, and continue to use that 8.1 license elsewhere.

You're trading your old rusty Win 8 license for a shiny new Win 10 license. You don't get to keep both.
