Windows 10 VPN

I've tried setting up a VPN on my Windows 10 laptop and when I connect to it, it tells me that I'm connected but doesn't change my IP and I can't map any network drives. I've done the same thing the same way on a Windows 7 laptop and it works fine. I'm almost 100% sure this is a Windows 10 thing because I've tried it on 2 other Windows 10 PC's and the same result occurred. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have reset my network settings multiple times so there must be something I have to change somewhere but I can't find anything...
