Hi,

I have a problem that window 10 pro edition doesn't want to install updates anymore without deleting Symantec Endpoint protection application first. Is there any way around this problem except unistalling and then reinstalling Endpoint protection app (I don't know the key anymore)?

Solution

While your IT dept may be incompetent fools...you have apparently run up against a wall with this Update.

There is no 'workaround' we can suggest to circumvent your IT dept policies.

This is when you present the case to your boss, and let him deal with the IT dept boss.

I have found out that Norton has a problem with Windows 10 Creators Update
https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH235458.html
It's a very messy solution, uninstalling, reinstalling new version of Endpoint and then reactivating... Here comes my problem. I use company's server enterprise licence key and I don't know how to reactivate it after reinstalling app on just my computer. I have only administrator right to "my" PC. If I ask our IT department, they will solve my problem in about a year or two 🙂

Then maybe Endpoint is not for you.
There are, you know...other AV solutions.

I have tried it, but it just crashed a system, after updating (blue screen), so I had to use system recovery point. I don't want to test my luck in such way anymore. It almost gave me heart attack, just thinking of losing data not saved in a cloud 🙂

I wish I could choose firewall apps by myself. I work in a large company and we have to use what IT department installs on our PCs.

Because I hate being reminded all the time about an update that can't be installed and Microsoft OneDrive setup eating 25 % of my CPU capacity in the background. I have to kill it manually every day. It's not funny when your backtesting and rendering/encoding times are prolonged just because of not fully optimized system. I have requested help from our IT department a few months ago and got an answer that they are working on it. I don't know what they are working on, but obviously not much. So I'm trying to solve this problem by myself.

"Boss...my daily workflow is being impacted by 30% because of A, B, C. I've requested assistance from IT (include the email chain here), and gotten no assistance.
This is seriously impacting my daily productivity."

This is not your PC to fix.
