Hi,

I have been having a few problems since I believe I updated Windows 10 to update 1803.

One of the main issues I am coming across is when I maximize windows every other time it'll lead to the window being offset and I can't find out why and it's driving me crazy...

I have uploaded a clip of this below of it happening on Spotify, it doesn't make any difference on the app I use, this happens on most things, even games, my games don't Fullscreen correctly anymore, it's like I am playing Windowed Fullscreen.

Here is the clip : Windows 10 - Offset When Maximized

> I have tried a fresh install of Windows and still haven't acheieved anything from doing so.

Thank you in advance, I'd really appreciate any help possbile.

Specifications

  • CPU : i7 4790k
    Motherboard : ASUS Z97-P
    RAM : 16 GB
    GPU : Gigabyte GTX 1080
SSD : SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD - 240GB

What's the brand and model of the monitor/display?

Oops, thought I had included this.

I have an ASUS PG279Q and an old LG monitor, both result in the same way when I Fullscreen windows.

What are your settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel for Destop Size and Position?

I am using them in the expand mode so I can multi-task however when I play games I just use the primary monitor being the PG279Q.

I don't think (?) I had this problem before, however, another problem I get is when opening/closing games or even tabbing in/out my PC goes really sluggish, my mouse cursor is like slow motion and really floaty/delayed which I think may be related to the whole problem.

If you don't disable the secondary monitor then the change in resolution and refresh rate, when you switch over to the primary monitor for gaming, will have some lag time. When you switch back to multi-monitor mode there will also be a lag as the primary monitor will have to readjust its display resolution and refresh rate.

Multi-monitor only works well when all of the displays are the same.

I see...

I wasn't aware having one 1440p monitor and 1080p would cause problems, though, I have noticed ever since I have had the 144Hz monitor my 60Hz monitor goes out of sync / skips a TON of frames which is supposedly due to the difference in Hz between the two monitors.

What would be causing the issue showed in the clip though, would you have any idea?

I am using the "PC Screen ONLY" setting when you press WIN + P and it still offsets windows when they're maximized.

Set the scaling for the 1440p display to No scaling.

Is your higher resolution display set at coordinates 0, 0 and the lower resolution display set at coordinate position 2560, 0?

I have set my primary monitor to "No Scaling" and here are what my two monitors look like under "Set up multiple displays".

There's your problem. Your primary display is not located at coordinates 0, 0. Click and drag your Display 1 icon to the left of Display 2. Drag the Display 2 icon to coordinates 2560, 0.

The reason for having the primary monitor on the right is so I can move my mouse to the left onto my secondary monitor, if the secondary monitor was placed on the right side I'd have it on the right.

Even those it's on the right side it's at 0,0 so I don't think that is the issue here.

I changed the settings to what you had told me to and it's still doing it? I'm more than certain it isn't that that is causing it...

You can see in the screenshot that both windows are offset when maximized, still, even after the changes (Yes I applied them).

EDIT : I have even disabled my secondary monitor and it's doing it still, I guess it's something to do with the Windows 10 1803 update...
