Hi guys, I have a problem with my laptop running Windows 10. I think I have come to the conclusion that Windows 10 wont let me install 3rd party antivirus software. Let me explain.
So back when I was using Windows 7, I had Bitdefender antivirus (the free version) as my antivirus software and I liked it, I had no issues with it; so when I moved to Win 10, I tried to get it back, but Windows 10 wouldn't let me install it. I keep getting a red User Account Control pop up box saying "This app has been blocked for your protection" whenever I run the .exe file. I thought it was just the Bitdefender software, so I tried another software, Malwarebytes Anti-malware and it gave me the same message when I tried to run the .exe file.
I know Windows 10 comes with Windows Defender as a default antivirus. Could that be the problem? I would appreciate it if you could help me out here. Thanks for the help
For the record, I use Windows 10 Home, version 1703, build number 15063.608.

You can install any anti virus software that you choose into Windows 10. I have Malwarebytes and Bitdefender installed at the moment, but I have installed various other anti virus softwares into my Windows 10 machine as a test bed.

Windows 10 has antivirus built in with windows defender. The thing about antivirus is that it will sometimes recognize anotger antivirus as a virus because of it's virus database. Just disable defender and install your preferred antivirus if you don't like defender.

No, that is not the problem. Windows 10 allows you to install third party antivirus fine. However you have to make sure it's the newest versions that support Windows 10. If you bought those antivirus when you had Win 7, those version will not work for Windows 10.
